Eric is a well-respected Australian author, education consultant and presenter with 47 years practical experience and a boundless energy and passion for teaching. Based in Queensland on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, Eric works across the education and corporate sectors to inspire and equip educators and business leaders with easy-to-implement and successful thinking tools for higher-order thinking.
His mission is to promote thinking in learning by sharing thinking tools to empower vibrant thinkers for life.
Eric has worked in hundreds of schools, staff rooms, uni lecture theatres, conferences and businesses and government departments throughout Australia and New Zealand and has also taught and presented in India, South Africa, Singapore, Indonesia, PNG, Abu Dhabi, USA and the Republic of Nauru.
As an author, Eric shares his teaching tools and consulting advice through such books as his best-selling Reflections on Classroom Thinking Strategies, now in its soon-to-be-released 11th edition with more than 35,000 copies sold. From 2002-2015 Eric was co-author of the innovative teachers’ companion, a diary designed for Early Years, Primary and Secondary teachers that incorporates a vast range of educational ideas and literature on classroom practice. This is the largest selling teacher diary in Australia with more than 800,000 copies sold. Furthermore, his Reconciliation of Goldilocks and the Three Bears e-book is still a much-loved practical step-by-step teaching resource for primary teachers and their students.
Eric has presented workshops to equip teachers and corporates with higher-order creative and co-operative thinking strategies for the classroom, staff meetings, board room and training sessions. He is regularly contracted by universities and schools as a teacher-in-residence or ‘critical friend’, and by government and corporate departments across diverse industries. He believes that meetings need never be dull! He encourages corporate clients to use thinking tools to spark ideas, improve engagement and achieve outcomes at meetings, facilitation and training sessions.
Eric started teaching in 1970 and has held the roles of teacher, Head of Department and Deputy Principal, Education Adviser for Gifted and Talented students with Education Queensland from 1989-92 and co-ordinated the G&T program at an independent school in Brisbane from 1993-95.
Eric began Rodin Educational Consultancy in 1995 and continues to be grateful for the many exciting opportunities to share his passion for thinking as a consultant and author. He lives with his wife, Terri, and family on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
